Mogilev — is one of the largest industrial and cultural centers of the country. Territorially the city is divided into 2 administrative units — Lenin and October regions.

About 4 % of all industrial output of the Republic falls into an industrial complex of Mogilev. In volumes of the Mogilev region the share of the city?s economy makes about a half (48,6 %).

A high concentration of the industrial enterprises, there are 71, presence of the advanced infrastructure and the qualified workers cause systematic growth of the real sector of economy and social sphere.

In branch structure of an industrial complex of Mogilev dominating branches are chemical and petrochemical (32,3 %), mechanical engineering and metal working (30,3 %), food (12,1 %), easy (10,9 %) which define practically the foreign trade turnover of the city.

Leader of the chemical industry is OJC «Mogilevkhimvolokno» — the largest enterprise in Europe on manufacture of chemical fibres. Due to the wide nomenclature and the quality of released production of the highest world standards, the enterprise has won the markets in 40 countries of the world, has deserved a reputation of the reliable business partner. It works with 1500 enterprises and firms of Belarus, Russia, Ukraine, Germany, Austria, Czechia, China and other countries. It is marked by «The Gold Star» International selection committee in Madrid, a prestigious international prize «The Arch of Europe» with the formulation: «For the immeasurable contribution to world business, for high position and professionalism».

Chemical group of enterprises «Zarja» makes varnishes, dry mixes, drying oil, paints and enamel.

The second branch of the importance — mechanical engineering and metal working is submitted by the enterprises: RUE «Mogilevliftmash», RUE «Electrodvigatel», RIUE «Strommashina», OJC «Tehnopribor», branch RUE «BelAZ», OJC «Metallurgical works», RUE «Olsa», etc.

The modern advanced enterprise of mechanical engineering is branch IRUE «Minsk automobile factory» «Factory «Mogilevtransmash», created on the basis of the OJC «Mogilevtransmash» in February, 2005. The factory produces trailers to lorries, the truck cranes, special building technical equipment on cargo chassis, carries out the activity on conditions of constant updating and creation of competitive production with use of last achievements of science and technology.

The electrotechnical mechanical engineering of the region is submitted by RUE «Mogilevsky zavod «Electrodvigatel» — the largest enterprise in the CIS on manufacture of asynchronous electric motors of different capacity. Production of the factory know more than in 50 countries of the world. Its high level is confirmed with numerous awards, among which The International Diamond Star of Quality.

Stably works one of the oldest enterprises of the region RIUE «Mogilevsky zavod «Strommashina», which now produces the equipment for manufacture of building materials (more than 400 basic kinds of machines) and the consumer goods. More than 30 countries (the CIS, France, Germany, India, Hungary, Czechia, Iraq, etc.) use the equipment of the factory.

RUE «Mogilevliftmach» is the specialized enterprise on manufacture of wide scale of lifts which in 1999 one of the first in the country has certificated system of quality of designing and manufacture of lifts on conformity to requirements. The Mogilev lifts work in all states CIS, including on the rocket space complex Baikonur, and also in 12 countries of Europe, Asia and America.

OJC «Mogilev metallurgical works» makes steel, electro welded round, profile, water-gas-supplying pipes, fraction pig-iron. The basic advantage of the enterprise — constantly updated assortment of released production, the maximal quality assurance, preservation of steady communications with consumers, delivery of production in modular cars in agreed periods under the comprehensible prices. All this has allowed the enterprise to leave on the markets not only the countries CIS, but also the countries of far abroad. In December, 2004 to the enterprise the rank of the winner of the Premium of the Government of Belarus for achievement in the field of quality.

The enterprises of mechanical engineering develop the basic volume of republican manufacture of lifts, automobile technical equipment, trailers to automobiles, electric motors, steel pipes.

Strategy of the technical updating gives a new pulse forward development of the enterprises of the building industry. Introduction of the newest technologies has allowed CJC «Combine of silicate products» to master manufacture high-quality blocks from cellular concrete that is confirmed with the certificate of conformity of the Russian Federation and the European Community.

The enterprises of the industry of building materials (combine of silicate products, a factory № 7, combine of building materials, a factory of ferro-concrete designs, a factory of ferro-concrete products, a factory of concrete provide with building materials both modular ferro-concrete designs and details common building purposes objects of industrial, welfare assignment of the city and region.

On a share of wood and woodworking industry falls the insignificant part in total amount of a commodity output of the city. Leading enterprises of this branch — OJC «Mogilevdrev» (makes furniture), OJC «Mogilevles».

With the diploma «The Best Building Product 2004» it is awarded with CJC «Factory of polymeric pipes» - one of the basic manufacturers in Belarus preliminary isolated pipes.

In structure of consumer goods of the city the enterprises easy and the food-processing industry dynamically develop. On a share of light industry it is necessary more than the third of volumes of the city. About half of goods of light industry of city go on export.

The significant role in light industry is played by enterprise of OJC «Mogilev textiles». By the given enterprise is issued more than 60 names of fabrics: cotton, silk, furniture, knitted, fabrics for jalousie and others.

OJC «Mogilev textiles» - the manufacturer of textile production largest in Belarus. Produces wide assortment of fabrics and knitted cloths, carries out sewing manufacture. Constant participation in the specialized exhibitions, fairs allows to create and represent new examples of high quality production and design. Production of the enterprise is delivered to the countries of CIS, Europe, Asia and America.

OJC «Lenta» is the largest in territory of the CIS the manufacturer of textile dry goods and curtain products, provides about 65 % of internal requirement of the Republic. Constant updating of the assortment with the help of computer technical equipment on creation of new figures allows to master the new markets and to increase deliveries to constant partners, to satisfy requirements of buyers. About 60 % of figures of curtains, 50 % of piece products and more than 20 % of production of textile dry goods are annually updated. Besides the countries of CIS products are delivered to Poland, Czech and the Baltic. Work on promotion of production to Sweden and Italy is conducted. For the best parameters of quality of the production and rendered services the enterprise has been awarded in 2002 of the international award «The European class of quality» in the nomination «The Enterprise of the XX century».

Constantly improve and update assortment of released products in view of a consumer demand internal and foreign markets of  OJC «Footwear» and CJC GC «Vjasnjanka». Garments of  CJC GC «Vjasnjanka» are in great demand in the countries of far abroad.

Carrying out of modernization has allowed to the enterprises of food branch not only to carry out high industrial parameters, but also to provide consumers of the Mogilev region with high quality production and a wide choice of bakery and confectionery products, dairy and meat production.

OJC «Babushkina Krynka» - one of the largest manufacturers of natural dairy production (about 200 kinds). Whole-milk production, animal's oil, cheeses (soft, firm, glazed), ice-cream, mayonnaise, glaze. At the enterprise the system of quality on conformity to the international standards is introduced. New kinds of production actively accustom. The enterprise realizes production, using new design of the packing, new brands «Babushkina krynka» and «Veselye vnuchata» and delivers it to the all regions of Belarus, and also to the regions of the Russian Federation. Production of the enterprise is marked by numerous diplomas of republican and international exhibitions and competitions. In December, 2005 the Premium of the Government of Belarus for achievements is awarded the enterprise in the field of quality, diplomas of the winner of two competitions «The Best goods of Belarus» and «The Best goods of Belarus in the market of the Russian Federation» are handed.

Annually in RUIE «Mogilevhlebprom» appear more than 100 names of new kinds of bakery and confectionery products, dryings and others products. Have especially interested the Russian buyers new kinds of bread with various additives and a long period of storage.

On a share of the OJC «Mogilev meat-packing plant» (meat of cattle and a bird, sausage products, fats food, meat-bone flour) is necessary about 50 % of volume of food production of city.

The Gelatin Factory makes gelatin, glue bone, a bone flour, fat technical.

OJC» Holding «Mogilevoblpishcheprom» (it is created in 1987 on the base winemaking and brewing factories) makes beer, soft drinks, carries out flood of grape faults.

OJC «Mogilevhleboprodukt» — a flour of all grades, semolina and pearl-barley, mixed fodders, protein-vitamin additives.

In structure of a commodity output of the industry of city about 4 % falls at a share of metal working. The basic enterprises of this branch: a factory «Krasnyj Metallist» (produces household hardware), a repair factory (specializes on repairing automobile, tractor and combine engines), a factory of hardware, a skilled — experimental factory, a factory technological metal details, a factory of ventilating preparations.
